The 2025 season was a banner year for BV Almere, notably for its premier team, FIT Almere. In a display of grit and skill, FIT Almere clinched the Eredivisie championship in March. While they entered the finals as underdogs against the formidable BC Duinwijck, a team boasting numerous international talents, FIT Almere showcased extraordinary fighting spirit, teamwork, and undeniable quality to secure a memorable victory.
This championship marked a fitting end to head coach Dave Khodabux’s tenure, as he bookended his coaching career with a title. The baton has now passed to Cheryl Seinen, a familiar face within BV Almere, who is poised to lead the flagship team into another exciting season. The competition remains fierce, with Almere, duinwijck, and Drop Shot currently locked in a tight race at the top of the standings, promising more thrilling encounters ahead.
The success wasn’t limited to the top tier. BV Almere’s second team also celebrated a championship title, alongside two teams in the Third Division.These achievements underscore the club’s robust foundation and the dedication of its motivated players. The club extends its best wishes to all participants for the current season.
Nurturing the Next Generation of Badminton Stars
BV Almere’s commitment to youth development was a standout theme in 2025, with the club experiencing considerable growth in its junior ranks. The momentum from previous years continued, leading to 17 youth competition teams participating this season. The demand to join the sport is so high that a waiting list has formed, highlighting the growing appeal of badminton among young athletes.
Managing this expansion required significant organizational effort from the youth department. The club expressed profound gratitude to its numerous volunteers whose hard work has been instrumental in streamlining operations and ensuring a positive experience for young players.After the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the resurgence and blossoming of the youth program are particularly gratifying. The club is proud of its strong foundation and the many talented young players who achieved notable successes in competitions and tournaments throughout the year, signaling a radiant future for BV Almere.
A Calendar packed with Community Events
Beyond the competitive arena, BV Almere’s volunteers were the driving force behind a diverse array of engaging events in 2025. the youth department hosted popular tournaments such as the gingerbread Tournament,a parent-child tournament,and a unique blacklight tournament.The Junior Master Almere drew over 150 players,while the Master Almere was held twice due to scheduling adjustments,attracting participants from across the nation and proving to be a resounding success.
Recreational players also enjoyed a full calendar, including an end-of-season tournament, a Sinterklaas tournament, and the traditional Christmas brunch. The beloved tradition of baking oliebollen (Dutch doughnuts) in the canteen continued to be a source of joy and community bonding.
These events highlight BV Almere’s dedication to fostering a strong social fabric alongside its sporting ambitions. From festive treats to club-wide activities,these initiatives are integral to the club’s unique identity.
The Heartbeat of the Club: Volunteers and Dedicated Members

The board is actively implementing the “All United” submission, a digital platform designed to enhance the efficiency of volunteer management and streamline various club operations. The aim is to further mobilize volunteers and ensure the continued success of the club’s many initiatives in 2026.
