This is the seventh consecutive year that Rubakina, 26 years old and ranked fifth in the world, has participated in the tournament. In 2023, he won runner-up.

In this tournament, she defeated world No. 100 K. Juvan (Slovenia) in the first round, World No. 77 Gracheva (France) in the second round, No. 54 T. Valentova (Czech Republic) in the third round, No. 21 seed E. Mertens (Belgium) in the fourth round, and No. 2 seed I. Świętek (Poland) in the quarterfinals to advance to the final four.

In the first set of the semi-final, where she faced Pegula, 31 years old and ranked No. 6 in the world, Rubakina won the point with a 77% probability on her first serve, never giving her opponent a break point, and in the return game, she took a break in the second game and took the lead.

In the second set, Lubakina tried to get a break first, but was unable to convert two servings for the match, and the set went into a tie-break. However, Rubakina was able to shake off Pegula’s persistence and win the tie-break to advance to the finals.

Lubakina, who won, will compete in the finals against Queen A. Sabalenka, the two-time champion of the tournament and the No. 1 seed, with the aim of winning the tournament for the first time. Sabalenka advanced by defeating 12th seed E. Svitolina (Ukraine) in the semifinals.
