INJURIES The bad luck continues to pile up for RSC Anderlecht. The people of Brussels may have to miss another regular, as Ludwig Augustinsson suffered a hamstring injury last weekend. The Swedish left back had to leave early against AA Gent and is being further investigated. A longer absence cannot be ruled out.
For Augustinsson it is a particularly sad continuation of his season. He had just returned after a lingering calf injury that kept him out for the entire month of December, when disaster struck again. As a precaution, the technical staff quickly intervened, but the first signals are not very hopeful.
Augustinsson’s injury fits into a worrying pattern. Anderlecht is struggling with an exceptionally high injury burden this season. Ilay Camara, for example, has now become a regular among the medical staff. The winger has already suffered three muscle injuries since his arrival from Standard. César Huerta has also been sidelined for months after surgery for pubalgia, while Mario Stroeykens, Marco Kana, Killian Sardella and Enric Llansana were also regularly out.
All this weighs on coach Besnik Hasi, who is rarely able to put together his ideal team. It is striking that the wave of injuries continues despite significant investments in medical and physical guidance. Anderlecht, among other things, hired specialists from Bayern Munich and expanded the performance team, with the aim of injury prevention. For the time being, however, its effect remains limited.
