Ashley Barty has found happiness.

Shortly before her 26th birthday, the then world number one Barty surprisingly announced her retirement from professional tennis in 2022. A few weeks earlier she had won her first title at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

Since then, Barty has married her long-term partner Gerry Kissick and welcomed two children – a son named Hayden, born in 2023, and a daughter named Jordan, born in June 2025.

“I don’t miss living out of a suitcase at all. I’ve always been a total homebody and love being at home. I like spending time with my children, my sisters, my nieces and my nephew. I’m very, very happy with my quiet but happy life,” the Australian told The New Daily in an interview.

For Barty, a possible return to the tennis tour is (currently) out of the question: “My top priority and focus at the moment is clearly on enjoying my children and my family and supporting them as they grow and develop. I love my life. I love my children. I love watching them learn and try new things and I’m really looking forward to the next few years with them.”

Barty won a total of three Grand Slam tournaments (in addition to the Australian Open 2022, the French Open 2019 and Wimbledon 2021) and also won 15 titles on the WTA tour. She was at the top of the world rankings for a total of 121 weeks.
