The youngest participant from Aalen was Mark Liang, who confidently won the first round in the U11 individual. In the round of the best four in his age group, he was narrowly defeated and came fourth. In the boys doubles he played with Fabian Linseis (PTSV Konstanz). In addition to further experience, he was also able to take home a medal for third place. His sister Menghan played in the U13 age group, but had to deal with the “play on the box” mode, which is disadvantageous for her style of play. But she did a very good job and fought her way up to 13th place. In girls’ doubles she played with Yiwen Zhang (BC Lörrach-Brombach). With a continuous increase in performance, both ended up with a good fourth place.
Alexander also played in the U13 age group. In an extremely close quarter-final, Alex remained very calm, especially when the score was close, including a few points deficit. After a semi-final defeat, Alex repeated a concentrated, calm performance and took third place. In the doubles on Sunday, Alex competed with Leo Ritter (BC Offenburg), who still had little doubles experience at tournament level. In the end, the two took third place.
Qisong and Marin played in the U15 age group. While Marin lost his qualifying match in straight sets, Qisong made it into the main draw. There, however, he lost the following two rounds and ended up in 13th place. Marin made the best of the situation and got the rating for 17th place. In doubles, Marin and Qisong were able to win the important first game after improving their performance. After a defeat in the semi-finals, both of them paid lessons in the game for third place when they invested too little and, despite a good comeback, didn’t get far enough in the second set. They were still right to be happy about fourth place.
In the U19 age group, Johannes played a decent men’s singles. After qualifying, there was a good game against top seed Kian Tiegs, but it was lost. The placement match ended unfortunately after three sets with 13th place. In the men’s doubles with Tobias Walch (PSV Reutlingen) there were two really good games in a strong field of participants. Unfortunately, both games were narrowly defeated by the group opponents, so we ended up with 7th place.
Things went well for Bettina in the U19 age group in both singles and doubles. The games at this level are good preparation for the B rankings next week. After a three-set win in the semifinals against Judith Binder, Bettina only had to admit defeat to Sara Storz in the final. In the doubles with Ivy Truong (SG Schorndorf), Bettina also lost in the final over three close sets against Sarah Storz and Amishi Tiwari. She achieved second place twice this weekend.
