Arsenal and Liverpool parted back to back this Thursday for the 21st day of the Premier League.
The leader Arsenal, unrecognizable, was slowed down in its quest for the title Thursday evening at home by the outgoing champion, Liverpool, (0-0) at the end of a 21st day display poor in spectacle and scoring opportunities.
In the Premier League standings, the gap remains six points between Arsenal (1st, 49 pts) and its closest pursuers, Manchester City and Aston Villa (43 pts), hung the day before respectively by Brighton (1-1) and Crystal Palace (0-0). Liverpool (4th, 35 pts) remains eight lengths off the podium and is under threat from Brentford (5th, 33 pts), victorious over Sunderland on Wednesday and author of a spectacular rise in the standings.

Arsenal monopolized the ball in the first half without doing much, facing the “Reds” with initially defensive tactics, cautious and frustrating for their hosts. The latter almost scored on the counter-attack, but right-back Conor Bradley’s lofted shot failed to hit the top of David Raya’s crossbar (27th).
In the second half, Liverpool were the more dominant team, by far. Arsenal’s first two chances only came in added time, with a header from Gabriel Jesus then a shot from Martinelli, both stopped by Alisson (90th+1). Liverpool lost just after Conor Bradley, who injured himself and was left on a stretcher in great pain. This is another hard blow to deal with for coach Arne Slot, already deprived of attackers Hugo Ekitiké and Alexander Isak due to injury.
