Arne Slot: Live Dismissal Coverage

Arne Slot is not doing well at Liverpool at all. A historic draw on Saturday led to a crisis meeting. With reportedly painful consequences.

Arne Slot provides painful, historic statistics in the Premier League

Liverpool spent hundreds of millions in the summer of 2025. Hugo Ekitiké, Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz were insanely expensive purchases to make the champions of last Premier League season even more unbeatable than the team already was in 2024/2025. Appearances were ultimately deceiving.

Worse still, the Dutch empire that was gradually built on Anfield Road is on the verge of collapse. A draw against Burnley followed on Saturday. Never before has a Premier League team failed to win at home against the three PhD candidates, but Slot and Liverpool succeeded and created a painful new statistic. The 1-1 draw left fans angry.

Fans no longer want to hear the Dutch trainer speak

Fans who no longer want to hear or see Slot speak. A social media post from Liverpool linking to the press conference was the focus of fierce criticism. “Why should we still listen to this bald man? Please replace him as soon as possible,” the comments said.

Crisis meeting until late in the evening: what was said?

The draw against Burnley caused a crisis meeting at Liverpool. After Slot had his say live on television and the fans once again asked for his dismissal, the Dutchman had to go to the main offices of Anfield. Jason Wilcox, club watcher from The Redsreported on X.

“What we know is that Slot was called into a meeting around 7:30 PM. There will be another more important meeting at 11:00 AM, with Fenway Sports Group (owners Liverpool, ed.) and Michael Edwards (Football Executive, ed.). We now understand that Xabi Alonso would like to take over in the middle of the season. It looks bad for the Dutchman.”

An update came later. “Both meetings are behind us. In the first, Slot was asked what he is going to do to change everything. What was discussed in the second meeting remains behind closed doors. The pressure on the Dutch trainer has never been so great. Liverpool is already in contact with Xabi Alonso.”

Slot’s contract runs until the summer of 2027. According to the information Cox has at his disposal, it will be over after this season for the ex-trainer of Feyenoord, among others. The question, however, is whether his Liverpool adventure will end much sooner.

Do you think Slot will leave now?
