New “Arrows for the Future” action to bring archery closer to schoolchildren

The Young Sports Foundation collaborates in this initiative of the Royal Spanish Archery Federation, which also promotes the practice of this modality as a preventive and rehabilitative therapy for women who have suffered from breast cancer.
The “Arrows for the Future” project has developed this week a new activity to bring together boys and girls, students from schools in Madrid, and introduce them to the practice of this sport.
The CEIP Francisco Ayala hosted this new session, with the participation of more than 70 students between 13 and 17 years old who enjoyed a class taught by technicians from the Madrid Federation, with the support of the center’s teachers. A day that was also inclusive, in which children with and without disabilities teamed up in a session on sports and values, to approach a discipline that is little implemented in our country.
The general director of the Young Sports Foundation, Aitor Canibe, wanted to see this activity first-hand, and went to the center to inquire about the development of the class and share impressions with the participating boys and girls.
Medical sources highlight the benefits of practicing archery in relation to breast cancer, both as a preventive and rehabilitative tool, after having faced this process. In this area, the entities develop the “Arrows against Cancer” action, which tries to unite sport with the physical and emotional recovery of patients, demonstrating significant improvements after practicing this sport, including the benefits in the mobility of the shoulder girdle and the affected arm, in addition to a positive effect on a psychological level.
