The Professional Soccer League of the AFA communicates the schedule for dates 1 to 12 of the 2026 Apertura Tournament.
For the final layout of the schedule for these 12 dates, the following general and specific criteria were considered, including supporting the participation of Argentine representatives in continental tournaments, avoiding overlapping matches of our league with the matches of Phase 2 of the Copa Libertadores playoffs as well as the Cup Winners’ Cup (Argentinos Juniors and Lanús respectively). In this way, Argentine football promotes support for the participation of our teams in international competitions.
GENERAL:
- Breaks: Although the Collective Agreement establishes a minimum of 48 working hours of rest, efforts have been made to ensure that there are at least 72 hours between matches, even this amount (72 hours) only occurs in less than 10% of cases, with 96 hours being the most used minimum rest between matches, especially when the dates occur during the week (dates 2, 7 and 10).
- Security Requests (especially CABA and AMBA) due to the number and magnitude of parties in each jurisdiction.
- Television Requestsin terms of the distribution of the matches on the screens, aiming to overlap the smallest number of matches and occupy the four stipulated programming days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday).
- summer time: up to and including date 10, the summer time contemplated in the Collective Labor Agreement of soccer players must be considered, by which matches must start at least at 5 p.m.
SPECIFICS:
- Other competitions – Argentine Cup: The League match program has been coordinated with that of the Argentine Cup, so that the clubs have the corresponding rest to play the 32nd round of said competition.
- South American Cup Winners’ Cup (Lanús): By virtue of said competition (to be played on Thursday 19/2 and Thursday 26/2), dates 6 (requested by the club, as indicated in the AFA Regulations / Article 32, section 5, of the League Regulations.) and date 7 (midweek), which are played on the same date that the club is playing the RETURN match, will be rescheduled. The matches will be rescheduled:
- Date 6 vs Argentinos: to be defined, according to whether or not Argentinos advance to Phase 3 of Libertadores. If so, the match will be played on the FIFA date.
- Date 7 vs Boca: the match will be played on WEDNESDAY 4/3.
- Libertadores Repechage (Argentines): The match corresponding to date 7 (midweek) will be rescheduled since the club will play the RETURN match of phase 2 of said competition. The rescheduling date will be established once it is defined whether or not Argentinos moves to Phase 3. If they advance to Phase 3, said match (vs Aldosivi) will be played on a FIFA date.
