For a long time it looked as if Anthony Davis would move shortly before the trade deadline for the second time in a row. This now seems increasingly unlikely.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the big man isn’t looking for a change of scenery at the moment. Accordingly, he would “prefer to spend the rest of the season in Dallas after the shock of the sudden in-season trade from the Lakers to the Mavericks last February.”
In addition, there is currently hardly any movement in possible trade discussions due to Davis’ ligament injury in his left hand. In addition to the desire for stability, there are “rumors” that officials within the organization would “find it very appealing” to see Davis on the field with Cooper Flagg and Kyrie Irving before a final decision is made on AD’s future.
However, it is questionable whether this scenario will become a reality this season. Stein points out that “it remains unclear whether Irving will play at all this season” as he recovers from his torn ACL.
The playmaker has not yet completed any team training and there is apparently even discussion internally about postponing his return completely until the coming season. Given their current record of 19-27 and 11th place in the West, it doesn’t seem to make much sense for the Texans to rush the guard back.
