Anísio Cabral: Benfica’s UCL Boost vs Real Madrid

Anísio Cabral’s breakthrough for Benfica has gathered pace, the 17-year-old scoring on his first-team debut in the win over Estrela da Amadora.

O Jogo reports that Benfica have formalised the registration of shirt 72 for UEFA competitions, placing the striker among José Mourinho’s options for the home meeting with Real Madrid on the final matchday of the Champions League phase.

Although the main registration window is closed at this stage of the competition, his status as a youth player trained at Seixal allows Benfica to amend their List B.

Cabral therefore becomes a live option in attack for Real Madrid. Daniel Banjaqui, who also impressed on Sunday, 25 January, is likewise included on List B.

This season Cabral has played 16 matches across competitions, 10 in the Under-19 National Championship, three in Liga Revelação, two in the UEFA Youth League and one in the Liga Portugal Betclic, totalling 697 minutes and five goals.
