Considered one of the best center fielders in major league baseball history, Andruw Jones was ultimately elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
The great Atlanta Braves player is part of the small vintage announced Tuesday by the pantheon. He will enter the pantheon alongside another outfielder, Carlos Beltran.
Born in Curaçao, Jones made his major league debut at the age of 19. He quickly established himself as a trusted player in Atlanta, having won no less than 10 Gold Gloves. He also hit 434 home runs, including 51 — a baseball record — in 2005.
Having never won a World Series, he also played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers, Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees. He has been eligible for the Hall since 2018.
Beltran was recognized as a spectacular player during his 20 years in the major leagues. He started his career strong with the Rookie of the Year title in 1999.
The Puerto Rican finished his career with a season with the Houston Astros, where he won the only World Series of his life, in 2017. He always excelled in the playoffs, with a batting average of .307 and 16 home runs.
In total, Beltran produced 1,587 points, exceeding the 100 plateau eight times. He defended the colors of seven different teams.
