Aleem Fordborn on in Lawrenceville, Georgia, is a Puerto Rican-American basketball player, playing as a winger.
Ford first attended Archer High School, where he averaged 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks his senior year. He then joined IMG Academy in Florida as a post-graduate player, where he averaged 13.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.[1].
He averaged 5.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game in his first season[2]. At the end of the season, he underwent knee surgery. During his sophomore season, he averaged 3.1 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. As a junior, he progressed with 8.6 points and 4.4 rebounds per game[3]. In his senior season, Ford averaged 8.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.[4].
He began his professional career in 2021 with Leones de Ponce in the Puerto Rican championship, after being selected first in the club’s draft.[5]. In 32 games, he averaged 7.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.4 steals and 0.2 blocks per game.[6].
Undrafted in the 2021 NBA draft, Ford signed with the Lakeland Magic in the NBA G League on November 4, 2021[7]. In 12 games, he posted 9.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 28.1 minutes per game[8].
On December 17, 2021, Ford was among four players signed to 10-day contracts by the Orlando Magic, with the team short on players due to the NBA’s COVID-19 protocols. He played his first NBA game that same evening, scoring 2 points and making an interception in a 115–105 loss to the Miami Heat. On December 27, he returned to the Lakeland Magic.
At the end of the G League season, he returned to Leones de Ponce[9]. On November 3, 2022, he was included in the Lakeland Magic squad for the opening night of the season.[10].
On March 30, 2023, he returned to Leones de Ponce.
On October 21, 2023, he signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers, but was released the same day[11]. A week later, he signed with the Cleveland Charge in the NBA G League[12].
On March 4, 2024, he was traded to the Wisconsin Herd[13].
In April 2024, Ford returns once again to Leones de Ponce[14].
On October 28, 2024, he joined the Rip City Remix.
Ford chooses to represent the Puerto Rico team in the 2023 World Cup[15]. He is also participating in the 2024 Olympic Games.
