Al-Shouala Beats Al-Karama: Handball League Opener

Al-Shoula Club won over Al-Karama Club, with a score of 31-15, in the opening of the second group matches of the men’s handball league, which was held in the Ghazwan Abu Zeid Hall in the city of Homs.

The opening day of the gathering, whose competitions last from the eighth to the fourteenth of this month, witnessed several confrontations, as the Waterwheels Club won over the Al-Yaqa Club with a score of 31-18, while the Vanguard Club was able to defeat Deir Attiya Club with a score of 32-27, and the Al-Furat Club achieved a well-deserved victory over the Umayyad Club with a score of 30-20.

In a statement to SANA, Abdul Rahman Shtoor, captain of the Al Karama team, explained that his team’s preparations for the rally began about a month and a half ago, and included only three training periods in the Ghazwan Abu Zeid Hall, as a result of the overlapping activities there. He pointed out that the team suffered several injuries on the first day of the competitions, stressing the effort to perform better in the upcoming matches and score points.

For his part, Maad Al-Zoubi, a player for Al-Shoula Club, confirmed that his team’s match against Al-Karama was characterized by a strong competitive nature, expressing his confidence in the ability of his teammates and the technical staff to maintain the lead in the group, thanks to the cooperation between the players and the efforts made during the last period.

Al-Shoula Club leads the standings of Group One with ten points, after achieving five consecutive victories without any loss, while Army Club occupies the lead in Group Two with eight points, as a result of four consecutive victories.

The first group includes Al-Shoula, Al-Nawaeer, Al-Furat, Deir Attia, Ahly Aleppo, and Al-Fatwa, while the second group includes Al-Jaish, Al-Tali’ah, Al-Yaqa, Al-Karama, and Umayyah clubs, with all teams looking forward to achieving positive results that will qualify them to the next stage of the league (the Big Six stage).
