Steven Berghuis is training with Ajax again, according to photos from the ANP. The 34-year-old left foot has not played for the team from Amsterdam since October due to a groin injury.
Last week, Grim said that things were going in the right direction with Berghuis’ injury. The attacker has already participated in a few training sessions, but has now fully participated in the final training for the match against Olympiakos.
Whether Berghuis will be in the selection remains to be seen. Grim will give a press conference at 2:30 PM in which more will become clear.
Berghuis played his last match for Ajax on October 4, when Ajax drew 3-3 against Sparta in Rotterdam.
Since then, Berghuis has been struggling with a groin injury. He was actually expected back in the selection much earlier, but he suffered a relapse shortly after the winter break, according to Grim.
Ajax will take on Olympiacos in its own Johan Cruijff ArenA on Wednesday evening at 9:00 PM. To continue in the Champions League, Ajax must win itself, and it depends on results on the other fields.
