┃“The winning rate and prize money are the highest ever”… 2025 Ahn Se-young, an ‘incomparable’ record that rewrites badminton history
[스포츠서울|정동석 기자] Here’s a champion who had one of the most dominant years in sports history.
No player in history has ever had a higher winning percentage in a season. It’s unprecedented. And we can’t forget about money. He became the first player in badminton history to exceed $1 million in prize money in a single season. We literally just wrote a new history. Just looking at the numbers, Ahn Se-young in 2025 was, what can I say, a player without comparison.

But the interesting thing is that I thought other things were more important than these enormous things.
Ah, that feeling that I have become stronger. For Ahn Se-young, success wasn’t just about winning, it was about growing.
Perhaps that’s why he had his own mental management method to overcome that enormous pressure and motivate himself.

‘I’m not the best player. It’s just one badminton player.’ Think of it this way. It’s like a kind of mind control that takes all the pressure off yourself. I think we can call this the mindset of a learner.
No matter what I’ve achieved, I’m always a learner, and I have the attitude that I still have endless things to learn. This is not about avoiding challenges, but seeing them as opportunities to learn.

The rules have changed and a new season has begun, but the goal remains the same. I want to achieve as good results in 2026 as last year. This is her resolve. white21@sportsseoul.com
