The footballers of Senegal won the 2025 African Cup of Nations. In Sunday’s final in Rabat, they defeated home country Morocco 1:0 after extra time and won the country’s second ever title at the continental championship.
The duel marked a wild end to regulation time, in which the Senegalese almost left the field after the appointed eleven in favor of Morocco, with some players already briefly in the bowels of the stadium.
The representatives of Senegal triumphed at the APN after four years, before that they enjoyed the first place in Cameroon.

They dominated the tournament as the second highest ranked African country in the FIFA rankings, where they were ranked 19th ahead of APN, while Morocco was ranked 11th.
The Senegalese did not allow the APN to win the host country for the second time in a row, in 2023 Ivory Coast triumphed on home soil. Morocco remains with the only championship it won five decades ago.
