Acqui Football Brawl: Novese Allievi Match Violence

A wild west or showdown climate. Yet anyone who had left at the end of Acqui-Novese, the regional Allievi football championship, would have noticed almost nothing. Instead, the worst was to come.

The facts

Once the match was over (won by the Biancocelesti 2-0), when the two teams returned to the locker rooms all hell happened. Not a brawl on the pitch, as unfortunately happens, but a brawl where football was the pretext. Involved were kids, parents of the players and at least thirty young people mostly minors who had shown signs of intemperance from the stands throughout the match to the point that some parents had asked them to calm down.

Once the match was over, as no one knows, an entrance that divides the stands of the «Barisone» in Acqui Terme remained open. From there, “the spectators” entered and a showdown began. Fathers who beat up kids, a “gang” that attacked the individual, managers and coaches who called the police to leave a locker room.

The one who suffered the worst was a young man from Novese who was kicked in the abdomen (his family is considering whether to file a complaint) from the father of an Acqui footballer. Someone called the police, but at the sound of the sirens the thirty young people involved in the brawl disappeared.

In addition to the police, someone asked for the presence of the race director who wrote everything down. Disqualifications are expected on Thursday 22 January.
