AC Milan has escaped defeat against low-placed Genoa. Rafael Leão equalized in injury time: 1-1.
As a result, AC Milan fell further behind city rivals Internazionale, which leads the Serie A. Number three Napoli also lost points yesterday. Inter, which won against Parma, did good business this midweek round.
Genoa took the lead after half an hour through a goal by AC Milan loanee Lorenzo Colombo. He ran away from the back of defender Matteo Gabbia and was able to finish easily.
Earlier, Gabbia had the chance to put Milan up 1-0, but his header hit the crossbar. Just before half-time, Youssouf Fofana could have leveled his team. The Frenchman had the ball to head in, but he clumsily slipped and didn’t even touch the ball.
The Milanese were also unhappy in the second half. Gabbia headed home from a corner kick, but because Christian Pulisic gave the ball a push with his arm just before the line, the goal was disallowed.
Turbulent final phase
Genoa was pushed back into its own sixteen meters, but the team of coach Daniele De Rossi held out for a long time. Until Leão headed in in the 92nd minute. Milan even had the chance to take the win.
However, things turned out differently. In a last-ditch effort, Genoa managed to escape and after Milan defender Davide Bartesaghi made a mistake, the referee pointed to the spot. However, the Romanian Nicolae Stanciu proved not to be cool and shot high.
