After a 30-6 loss to the Houston Texans, quarterback Aaron Rodgers did not confirm whether he had just experienced his final moments in the NFL.

“I won’t make an emotional decision. I’m disappointed, obviously, but the season has been so enjoyable. I’ve had a great year overall in my life and a lot of it is because I came here to this team. It’s so disappointing to sit here and know that the season is over,” he said after the cruel loss suffered in Pittsburgh.
Rodgers is 42 years old and he has mentioned a few times in recent months that this is likely his last season. For now, after a game in which he was hit hard by the Texans’ defense, he hasn’t talked about his future plans.
Rodgers, who made his debut with the Green Bay Packers in 2005, wore the colors of the organization that drafted him 24th overall until 2022.
After two lost seasons with the New York Jets, including one sabotaged by a torn Achilles tendon, he joined the Steelers on a one-year contract last spring.
When asked by a reporter if he was open to the idea of returning to Pittsburgh, Rodgers didn’t come forward.
“I won’t answer that,” he said.
In the coming weeks, the veteran intends to think about his future.
“I’m going to go away and have the conversations I need to have,” he said.
If this were the end of his career, Rodgers would finish his career with 66,274 yards, which ranks fifth in history. His 527 touchdown passes rank fourth.
Rodgers was grateful to have represented two historic franchises.
“I had the opportunity to play in an incredible soccer city for 18 years. I never took anything for granted and I enjoyed my time there (in Green Bay), as I enjoyed spending last season here.
“It’s a special place with a rich tradition of excellence, great players. I was looking at the stadium tonight and there were no big groups of Texans fans. There are only a few special places left like here in the league that have such tradition. »
