We know a little about the French team’s jerseys for the 2026 World Cup. While the North American World Cup is fast approaching (June 11 – July 19), the specialized site Footy Headlines has revealed a visual of the “outer” tunic that the Blues will wear next summer.
If the “home” jersey of Kylian Mbappé and his partners will obviously be blue, according to a first leak from the independent media on January 20, the latter will also wear a predominantly mint green outfit during certain matches. Apparently designed as a tribute to the Statue of Liberty by Nike and the French Football Federation (FFF), it will offer a unique style, with a mint green and copper color palette. The idea would be to symbolize the historical links between France and the United States.
In detail, edging in the colors of the French flag will be present on the sleeves and shorts, while the FFF logo, as well as the two stars representing the two world champion titles, will benefit from a copper effect. Inside the collar, the head of the Statue of Liberty will be evoked, accompanied by the following sentence: “ Our differences unite us ».
A (almost) first
If the existence of this green jersey is confirmed, the French team would wear this color for the first time in more than a century of existence. Usually, the Blues’ “away” tunic during official competitions tends more towards the bench, as was the case during Euro 2024 and the 2022 World Cup in particular. If the Tricolores had already exceptionally played in green during the 1978 World Cup against Hungary – because their opponent was already wearing white – the various equipment manufacturers had never before attempted to break the codes to this extent.
As a reminder, the 2026 World Cup for the Blues will begin on June 16 with an expected clash against Senegal at MetLife Stadium in New York. They will then challenge the winner of the intercontinental play-off between Iraq, Suriname and Bolivia. The final match of the group stage will pit them against Norway.
