【Gangneung】The ‘2026 Gangneung World Masters Table Tennis Championships’ was selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s ‘2026 Local Government Hosting International Games Support Project’ contest and secured 780 million won in national funding, the largest amount of support in the country.

The 2026 Gangneung World Masters Table Tennis Championships received high scores in the area of ​​revitalizing the local economy as it is an international competition with over 4,000 participants, including hobbyists and retired players from over 100 countries around the world.

An official from Gangneung City said, “Using our experience of successfully hosting the 2018 Winter Olympics and the 2024 Youth Winter Olympics, we will successfully host the ‘2026 Gangneung World Masters Table Tennis Championships’ in June this year and the World Table Tennis Youth Contender and World Table Tennis Youth Star Contender international competitions in September, making Gangneung City an international sports host city in name and reality. “It’s a plan,” he said.

The 2026 Gangneung World Masters Table Tennis Championships will be held in the Gangneung Olympic Park area, including Gangneung Speed ​​Skating Stadium and Gangneung Arena, from June 5 to 12 this year.
