Sedláček ended up in the same way as at last year’s World Championship, when he was eliminated in the 1st round with Rhys Griffin from Great Britain.

Sedláček, the 70th ranked player, got into the first round of one of the dark horses of the tournament, who confirmed his great form from the last few months. Nijman won all sets 3:1 on legs.
As the second player in the current championship so far, he exceeded the average of 100 points for three thrown darts. Defending champion Luke Littler was the first to do so on the opening day of the championship.
Sedláček, in his fifth participation in the World Championship, did not follow up on the last two victories from mutual matches with Nijman. For defeat in the first round, he will add 15 thousand pounds (415 thousand crowns) to the ranking.
The surprise was provided by the legendary Paul Lim, who defeated the favored Swede Jeffrey de Graaf 3:1 and after five years again passed to the second round. He thus became the oldest winner of a match at the World Cup, the Singaporean darts player will be 72 years old in January.
This year, the World Championship is being played for the first time in an expanded format with 128 players and with record prize money, which is twice as much as last year. The winner will take a fifth (27.7 million crowns) of the total subsidy of five million pounds (138 million crowns).
