On December 26, the city’s football work meeting was held. Two things that everyone is concerned about were mentioned at the meeting: one is the inclusion of football in the sports selection for the high school entrance examination, and the other is the first Zhejiang Football City League.
Football will be included in the high school entrance examination starting next year
Let’s talk about the first thing first. The relevant person in charge of the Municipal Sports Bureau said that football will be included in the sports selection for the high school entrance examination and will be implemented next year. At the same time, schools at all levels and types must increase the proportion of football teaching. In accordance with the requirements of the “Several Measures to Promote the High-Quality Development of Football” recently issued by Zhejiang Province, football class hours should be no less than 1/3 of the total physical education class hours in each school year.
Currently, there are 6 selection items for the physical education high school entrance examination in the main urban area of Hangzhou, namely: standing long jump, rope skipping (1 minute), medicine ball throwing (2 kilograms), pull-ups (boys)/sit-ups (1 minute, girls), 1000-meter run (boys)/800-meter run (girls), and swimming (100 meters).
The full score of the physical education test for high school entrance examination is 30 points, and the full score of each category is 10 points. After football is included in the physical education selection test for high school entrance examinations, we have to wait for a more specific plan on how to test it. However, children who like football can start practicing now.
The Hangzhou Division will start in mid-January next year
The first Zhejiang Provincial Football City League is planned to start in April 2026. The league will be divided into two stages: qualifiers and city competition.
The first stage of the qualifiers will be organized by each city in conjunction with existing mass football events to select a list of athletes who are qualified to participate in the Zhejiang Provincial City Football League; the second stage of the city competition will be organized and implemented by the league organizing committee and each division.
The Hangzhou Division Qualifiers will start in mid-January 2026. 13 districts, counties (cities) will be divided into 2 groups for a single-cycle home and away group stage, and then cross-elimination rounds will be held until the top 4 are determined, and 60 people will be selected to form a municipal representative team to participate in the city competition.
Who can register to compete?
At present, Xiaoshan District and Jiande City have started player recruitment. Taking Jiande City as an example, the requirements are to be born before December 31, 2009, and to meet one of the following conditions:
The first four digits of the ID number must be 3301 or 3390, and the ID card issuing authority is in Jiande City (subject to the ID card); settled in Jiande City before January 1, 2025; and have proof of uninterrupted social insurance payment (non-repayment) in Jiande City since January 1, 2024, etc.
High school students in school can sign up to participate. High school students whose enrollment place is in Jiande City can participate on behalf of Jiande City. The student enrollment place from September 1 to December 31, 2025 shall prevail, and the student enrollment place in the branch campus shall prevail. High school students with registered residence in Hangzhou can choose to participate on behalf of Jiande City with student registration or Jiande City with registered residence.
Professional registered players must have retired for 4 years or more (the time is deemed to be retirement before December 31, 2021) and must meet one of the first two conditions before they can register.
