Zamorano archery was celebrating this weekend. The CD. Arqueros Zamora celebrated the XXV National Christmas Tournamentvalid for the 5th RAUS national (these tests are valid to be able to participate in the Spanish indoor championship), and the XII Reny Picot Trophy. They were held in the blue pavilion of the Zamora sports city from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
It was not just another edition, they celebrated the quarter of a century organizing one of the most rooted events in Castilla y León, in Spain and of course in Zamora. In these twenty-five years the evolution of this test has been enormous, going from making the lists, bibs, propaganda… almost by hand, to having everything digitized: computers, computer programs, electronic time markers, visible individual markers so that spectators can see how the test dispute is going, public address systems, social networks and media. And of course the increase in the social mass that the club currently forms among members and supporters who work piece-rate as volunteers in the tests organized by the club.

For all of the above, the club wanted entertain the 85 participating athletes with a bag full of welcome gifts donated by Gaza and Refueling from Morales del Vinoand that they were excellently received. Some shooters were left on the waiting list but there could not be more because the pavilion does not accept more.
The two tests were aimed at all types of archery: recurve bow, compound bow, traditional bow, longbow and naked bow. The club participated in all but longbow.
Highlight to David Gonzalezwho, being a child, dared to shoot as a senior on a target much smaller than his.
The Zamorans did not clash, something that is now common. In it XXV National Tournamentconsisting of shooting 60 arrows, the cadet stood out above the others Jara Bartholomewho also participated as a senior, and Beatriz Mansoupon taking over gold and silver respectively in female recurve bowclearly asserting their status as favorites.
In traditional bow was Benjamin Rodriguez who climbed to the top of the box. He was also one of the favorites and did not miss the opportunity to assert himself.
In bare bowthe money went to Jose Gonzalezwhich without making excessive noise is becoming among the best in a demanding modality.

In men’s recurve bow, Manuel Vazquezthe rookie, at the end of the first round was placed in third positionbut in the second “the fear of winning”, as often happens in all individual sports, gripped him and he descended to the fifth position. You will surely learn from the experience and improve performance.
The same thing happened to an experienced Ramiro Portales with compound bow, which went from third placejust two points behind second in the first round, seventh at the end.
Mati Penawith a compound bow, despite being regular in his marks, this time he was not lucky and finished quinta.
At the end of the XXV Tournament gave way to XII Reny Picot Trophythe cheese tournament as this trophy is popularly known, which consists of starting with a minimum score to be achieved with three arrows. Whoever gets it, in the next three arrows must make one more point than in the previous ones, until reaching 30 points. In this trophy each modality of the participants is mixed. It is the KO tournamenta regular arrow shot leaves you out and mental focus must be maximum.
And here the surprise came, capital letter and very pleasant for the club. Eric Herreroa first-time participant in the recurve trophy, had been making discreet draws, good for his level, but nothing more. But he mentally connected with the competition and went through rounds: 25-26-27-28-29and won the coveted sheep’s cheese 3 kg reserve Reny Picot. This shooter, a cadet from the Zamora quarry, has a lot of merit since he comes on Fridays from Puebla de Sanabria to train at the club’s training school. The effort is great in every way for him and his family, and everyone present was sincerely happy for his victory.
In addition to Eric, Benjamin Rodriguez repeated the award and also won the traditional arched cheese, being the big winner of the morning. Another winner was Emilio Antuñafrom Asturias, which repeated its victory compared to last year. In compound bowthe Salamancan Pedro Rodríguez Escudero was the winner, but not without having made it very difficult for him Mati Penawho in the 30th minute could only get 29 points, and the Valladolid native Joaquin Vazquezwhich did not exceed 28.
Once the competitions were over, everyone went to the club’s training room to present the trophies, an event attended by the sports councilorwho thanked everyone present for their stay in Zamora. After the delivery, everyone tasted a Zamorano stew accompanied by other typical dishes.
Satisfaction in the club for what they considered a good organization, for the results obtained and for the excellent harmony between all attendees.
