■Comment from Taisuke Hosokawa General Manager
First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the fans and supporters who support NHK Spring Yokohama FC Seagulls on a daily basis, as well as to the club’s corporate partners.
At this time, I have decided to retire as director, who I have served since the 2023 season, and general manager, which I also held this season. We would also like to inform you that at the same time, the executives of the men’s team “Yokohama FC” will also be retiring and leaving the organization.
During my three seasons in office, including two seasons as a director and this season also serving as general manager, I have worked to achieve sustainable management, improve the environment surrounding players, and build a team that can maintain competitiveness over the medium to long term. Although we have had to make some tough decisions at times during this process, we feel that we are making steady progress as a club in terms of business. Furthermore, as we deepen our cooperative relationship with our partner club, the Yokosuka Seagulls, we feel that the fact that our youth players made their senior debuts was a small but big step towards the future.
However, in a complete turn from last season’s excellent result of finishing runners-up in the Nadeshiko League, this season was a very disappointing season, finishing in 8th place. Even though I wanted to show them fighting to reach the top again, I feel really sad and sorry that I wasn’t able to live up to the results.
Even so, despite the difficult days when we could not increase our points, the support of everyone never stopped. I can’t count how much I was saved by the loud applause and warm voices from the stands. I was given the strength to look up and say, “I’ll definitely move forward next week.” Once again, I strongly feel that the Seagulls is a club supported by Japan’s best fans and supporters, as well as our partners who have always watched over us warmly. At the home game held at NHK Spring Mitsuzawa Stadium on August 31st, the loud cheers from the stands filled with more than 2,000 visitors, the highest in club history, remain deeply imprinted in my memory.
And the players. After completing their hard training, they head off to their respective jobs. Even so, I have deep respect for him as a person, for his attitude of never making excuses, being grateful for this environment, and continuing to run for his teammates, the club, and everyone who supports him. Their strength, brightness and integrity are the pride and future of this club.
The time I have spent with the players, staff, and everyone involved is an asset to me. The steps for next season have already begun. Although I am sad to be leaving the club, I am confident that NHK Spring Yokohama FC Seagulls will regain its shine once again.
Thank you very much for everything. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
