Crisis at Real Madrid
Real Madrid suffered its second consecutive defeat this Wednesday (10/12). The Whites were defeated by Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabéu, 2-1, with several questionable performances.
In fact, after the final whistle, coach Xabi Alonso left the field to boos from the fans, with many demanding the Spanish coach’s dismissal. It is worth mentioning that, last week, the team had already suffered an embarrassing defeat to Celta de Vigo.
Also at the Santiago Bernabéu, the club lost 2-0 and moved further away from the top of La Liga. This, in fact, has been the pattern for Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid, which has been oscillating between good and bad results throughout the season.
Real Madrid defines Xabi Alonso’s future
Amidst this and all the pressure from fans and the press, president Florentino Pérez made a quick decision. According to journalist Patrick Berger, from SkySports, Xabi Alonso will not be fired and will lead the team in Sunday’s game (14/10), against Alavés.

The renowned newspaper Diário AS, from Spain, also supported the coach’s stay. According to the source, Real will keep Xabi Alonso until January next year, with only a major tragedy being able to see him sacked in December.
Xabi Alonso responds about dismissal
At today’s press conference, after the Champions League defeat, Xabi Alonso himself was asked about the possibility of being fired from Real Madrid. However, the technician’s response was political and gave away the possibility:
“My future? This has nothing to do with me; I’m focused on Real Madrid’s next match, which is what matters”, said the former player, who increasingly seems close to leaving the command of Real, the club where he shone as an athlete.
It is worth mentioning that, behind the scenes, much has been said about the dissatisfaction of Real’s main stars with the coach. According to rumors, only Mbappé and Courtois, among the medalists, support the Spanish coach.
