WTA & Mercedes: Record Deal Boosts Women’s Tennis | Sportacentrs.com

It is reported that the cooperation is concluded for 10 years. “Mercedes” is expected to give the WTA 50 million US dollars (43 million euros) annually. The cooperation agreement is described as the most profitable in the history of the WTA.

This collaboration will help the WTA move closer to its goal of an equal prize pool with the men’s competition. The WTA has expressed its determination to ensure that in 2027 there will be equality between the prize funds of men’s and women’s competitions.

Billie Jean King, founder of the WTA, was excited about the opportunities the new contract will bring to the new generation: ″Women are making themselves heard and this is just the beginning. An equal prize pool is a very important step.”

Previously, the title sponsor of the WTA was the medical technology company Hologic, which allocated 20 million US dollars to the tour annually.

″Mercedes″ was also a sponsor of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) from 1996 to 2008 and still continues to support the ″US Open″ tournament.
