World Cup 2023: Australia Promo Video

The organizers of the 2027 World Cup unveiled a spooky video this Wednesday, a mix of Mad Max and Jurassic Park.

Immediately, the images make you think of «Mad Max Fury Road». A horde of tanks driving at breakneck speed in a cloud of sand in the Australian Outback, chasing the Webb Ellis trophy crossing the sky like a comet. The appearance of a frilled lizard – another name for the Australian dragon – in the middle of the pack then refers to Jurassic Park.

A great spectacle, blockbuster style, launched with a touch of humor, the reunion between the Australian George Gregan and the Englishman Jonny Wilkinson, the second having led England to the world title during the 2003 edition, already organized in Australia, against the Wallabies.

In this supercharged film of exactly one minute, called «Go All Out» (“give everything you have”), players (we see, running in the middle of the chaos, Wallabies stars Joseph Suaalii, Max Jorgensen and Rob Valetini), supporters, commentators, everyone has a role to play in the middle of Homeric tanks built in collaboration with the federations of each qualified country.

First comes the enormous South African truck, topped with two gigantic antelope horns (springbok), a tribute to the reigning double world champions. In the frantic race, we see a Welsh Dragon hovering in the air, a mechanical Wallaby led by the actor Jack Black, the English tank with its lion or the Argentinian with its puma, a Spanish guitar, a Japanese robot… Fiji? A hammock tied between two palm trees on a rickety truck. The Loch Ness monster for the Scots, a catamaran for the New Zealanders. And a Rooster led by a woman dressed as Bonaparte for France…
