Three-time Grand Slam tournament winner Stan Wawrinka will end his tennis career in 2026. The 40-year-old Swiss announced this in a post on the X platform. “2026 will be my last year on the tour,” Wawrinka wrote.

In his post, the Swiss wrote: “I want to continue to push my limits and end this journey as well as possible.” He enjoyed every part of what tennis gave him, especially the emotions he felt while playing.

Wawrinka won three Grand Slam tournaments: the 2014 Australian Open, 2015 French Open and 2016 US Open. In 2008 he became Olympic doubles champion in Beijing alongside Roger Federer and won the Davis Cup for Switzerland for the first time in 2014. In the meantime he was number 3 in the world rankings.

Of his total of 16 tournament wins so far, Wawrinka celebrated his last in Geneva in 2017. Back then he defeated Mischa Zverev in the final. After a few injuries, things had become quieter around Wawrinka in recent years. He was known for his strong one-handed backhand.
