The Golden State Warriors have had a generally average start to the season. After a good start, the men of Steve Kerr have clearly returned to their ranks: 15 victories for 15 defeats for an 8th place in the West. Results which also sparked tensions between the Dubs coach and Draymond Green.
Because in addition to realizing his mea culpa, the Warriors coach made the link between the decline of his team and this verbal clash. While the Dubs have been accustomed to racking up success, they now have to come to terms with a new reality: they are no longer as strong.
And for his part, Kerr is lucid about this situation.
“As a team, as an organization, the most important thing for me is that guys recognize that there is beauty in difficulty. There is beauty in what we are trying to accomplish right now.
We are no longer the 2017 Warriors who dominated the league. We are a dynasty in decline. And we know it. Everyone knows it. So what’s up to us is to ask ourselves: ‘How are we going to behave night after night? How united are we? And can we give ourselves another chance?’
This is what we did last year. I was really proud of the team last year. We gave ourselves a chance, and that’s still our goal. We know where we are. And we need to know who we are.
We also need to know what is possible. And we should be proud of our efforts, because it’s part of life,” Steve Kerr told the press.
It now remains to be seen whether this version of the Warriors can really “give yourself a chance” to compete with the best teams in the League.
