The walking football activities of the Middle Rhine Football Association (FVM) came to an impressive end this year with two lively demo units on November 17th and 19th, 2025. Both at the Flying Albatros in Troisdorf and at the SSV Heimerzheim showed how versatile, inclusive and inspiring this special form of play is.
Enthusiasm and diversity at the Flying Albatross
On November 17th, 13 people took part in the Flying Albatross – including eight women and one child. After a relaxed warm-up program with exercises for coordination and ball control, a varied game between two teams began. A balanced, fair and at the same time happy game quickly developed, in which everyone was visibly happy.
Walking football also inspires enthusiasm in Heimerzheim
Two days later, on November 19th, SSV Heimerzheim welcomed 13 men who wanted to try out walking football. After a short introduction to the special rules of this contactless, health-promoting version of football, an intensive but controlled game began. The players quickly found the rhythm of walking and demonstrated how tactically exciting and at the same time community-building walking football can be.
Walking football: safe, fair and for everyone
Walking football is the first non-contact football variant recognized by the German Football Association, in which one foot always touches the ground and the ball is played a maximum of 1 meter high. This creates a safe, fair game that focuses on technology, communication and team spirit.
The November sessions showed that walking football is equally suitable for all age groups, women and men, beginners and experienced players. Whether in mixed groups like the Flying Albatros or in a men’s group like the SSV Heimerzheim – the fun of exercise and playing together is always in the foreground.
A successful end to the year full of joy
Both events offered ideal conditions for a round conclusion to the walking football year. The mix of exercise, togetherness and new experiences was extremely well received. The participants left the place satisfied, motivated and full of fresh impressions.
Next year, the FVM will again offer clubs the opportunity to receive free two-hour demo sessions in the area of walking football. After a short introduction and a cognitive warm-up program, the focus is on playing together. Age, gender or fitness level don’t matter – walking football is suitable for everyone.
Clubs can already use this Formulate Register for a demo session or contact Constanze Ruppert directly (constanze.ruppert(at)fvm.de) turn around.
