VSV Hohenbostel Judo: Season-Ending Medal Success

HOHENBOSTEL (red).

On the last tournament weekend of the 2025 judo season, the fighters from VSV Hohenbostel took to the mat again in all youth age groups on two tournament days. On Saturday the VSV was represented at the Sparkasse Cup in Hörstel (North Rhine-Westphalia). With over 500 starters from 60 clubs, the Sparkasse Cup at the end of the year is a real major event in judo.

Thies Rehberg was able to bring home a bronze medal for VSV in the U17 age group. On Sunday the kite tournament continued in Holle. The dragon tournament is also a larger event among the judo tournaments with 150 athletes from 24 clubs. In the U9 age group, six athletes from VSV competed in four different weight classes. Unfortunately, Katja Henco and Andrej Kähm as well as Fiete Dähn and Elise Tessmer were each in the same age and weight class, which meant they had to compete in duels against athletes from their own club. Katja was able to secure first place through good techniques on the floor. Andrej often managed to assert himself while standing and was able to achieve third place. After several energy-sapping, full-time battles, Leo Hermasch fought for second place. Elise was also able to win a silver medal despite difficult opponents. Ben Theil managed to win a fight early on points and thereby secure a bronze medal. After several spectacular throws, Fiete was able to earn a well-deserved first place.

In the U13 age group, Johann fought for VSV Hohenbostel. After a somewhat bumpy start against the runner-up, Johann won all further fights and won a bronze medal. The VSV is very pleased with this result and is already looking forward to the start of the new season in 2026. Would you like to be on the winner’s podium? Then start judo now at VSV Hohenbostel!
