VORCHDORF. The UBC Vorchdorf hosted the Austrian Senior Badminton Championships and impressed both organizationally and athletically. The Vorchdorfers won five gold, two silver and one bronze medals.
For the fourth time, the club was commissioned by the Austrian association to organize the title fights. Over three days, 80 players competed in the Vorchdorf sports hall and determined the new senior champions.
Vorchdorf athletes use home advantage
The Vorchdorfers won a total of five gold, two silver and one bronze medals. The most successful player was Dominik Kronsteiner. He won his first singles title in the forty plus class without losing a set. He also won the men’s doubles forty plus together with Rene Höller and the mixed doubles with Maria Steinmann.
Ina Tippelt defended her title in the women’s doubles thirty-five plus with Natalie Hofinger. She also achieved second place in the singles and mixed doubles with Bernhard Gruber.
22nd title for Harald Starl
UBC veteran Harald Starl won the men’s doubles sixty plus with Thomas Aigner from Salzburg and thus confirmed his title. It was his 22nd senior championship. He won bronze in the individual event and now has 58 medals at senior state championships.
The guests of honor were also satisfied. ÖBV President Wolfgang Noitz, Mayor Johann Mitterlehner, state parliament member Reinhard Ammer and sports officer Mario Mayr praised the work of the organizing team and the achievements of the local players.
