VIK vs Troja: Growing Concerns After 2-4 Loss

IN THE PICTURE: Good message from VIK Support before Troja.

Words are running out how to describe all the challenges VIK is facing. This after a new race when 2-0 became 2-4 against the old Troja on Wednesday evening.

You start to worry about the table. And for the association. Which, among other things, loses finances as the audience figures are not fun. It’s easy to hold back laughter.

FIRST PERIOD

Lots of nice energy from an unexpectedly loud, not huge heel seemed to give VIK with new chains a kick initially. So impressive of those on site.

2-0 after 20 via a full 7-0 chances in 5-on-5 in the first. However, Lawner immediately unfortunate dismissal after the club went off. Loimaranta chance after good work by tand Rosdahl.

Little chance at the beginning but interesting to put the playable Guay with Lawner and Komarek and the Canadian fixed a chance for Lundgren.

Sjödin broke in towards goal and fixed the PP. 1-0 in PP after quick passes by Komarek and Rosdahl (Loimaranta in PP2…) where Jakobsson finished deliciously.

Guay involved and good chance Norberg. Loimaranta also switched on in new chain and close in solo driving.

2-0 after a good break Guay and Lawner played back and Guay netted in the counterattack. Finally positive energy.

THE SECOND PERIOD

Very loss of quality in the 2nd period by again extremely uneven and undisciplined VIK. Strange period, incredibly poor 1-0 chances in 5-on-5. Malmström took unnecessary restraint.

Guay rough Indian in the middle zone, penalty Troy and 2-1. Guay also took a not entirely necessary hook. Dangerous Trojan PP.

Komarek fixed PP. Some chances there.

At the end near Sjödin after good Sjögren and Loimaranta. But nice play in own zone by Lawner and Norberg and 2-2 after Korhonen scored.

THE THIRD PERIOD

VIK started the third period perfectly okay. Jakobsson fired a close shot. Pennerborn nicely played forward Sjödin who poked the crossbar.

Friberg again showed unexpectedly good game sense when he freed Norberg, who had all the time in the world, but missed.

A bit out of nowhere, 2-3 came when Pennerborn made a mistake behind his own goal, a shame as the young defender hardly made a single save for a long time after being out of the team earlier.

After the goal, Troja peppered chances as there was total cramp in VIK. 2-4 in empty case.

SUMMARY

It started so well in many ways last night. The heel had an empowering banner and although there weren’t that many souls there was good pressure in the song. The heel also tried to support at the end of the third.

The new chains also got off to a promising start:

  • Guay – Republic – Lawner
  • Sjögren – Rosdahl – Loimaranta
  • Jakobsson – Sjödin – Karlsson
  • Kvist – Birgersson – Friberg (Lejon)

But I would put Friberg next to Rosdahl and Loimaranta as #15 has an interesting sense of play that would be worth testing a little higher up, can actually hit nice passes unlike many others.

And VIK answered for 20 minutes. Of course you can cut the last 40 minutes. All of the Trojan goals were big invitations from VIK who find ways to lose. Red were efficient and skilled when it mattered.

The chances in games 5-on-5 were 7-0, 1-0 and 5-9 in the periods, a total of 13-9 to VIK.. But we already know that this is an incredibly brittle and uneven team.

Instead, if you think with the VIK heart, the heel must continue like this to support the team every night. Because otherwise there might not be a team next season. At least not in the HockeyAllsvenskan.

It would take some form of collection now in forgetting what has been. Everyone who wants to keep VIK in the Allsvenskan needs to keep showing it. Players, managers, sponsors and fans.

Although it is difficult and the entertainment is not top notch. To put it mildly.

It would be good with a drawing of what the economy actually looks like as well. Because right now it clearly points towards a negative qualification, specifically against Troy. How would the economy, which was hollowed out in step with the empty chairs in the hall, cope with a demotion?

Maybe I’m being drastic, but I think you have to prepare yourself mentally for a series against Troy, if nothing big happens in terms of results and games. We have to completely change the requirements and be satisfied if VIK can now survive.

Peter Andersson believes that the numbers look good in terms of creating chances. There is probably something in it. The only problem is that the squad lacks the skill to manage these and the numbers don’t seem to strengthen the players mentally. Everything turns into a negative energy-leaking spiral that is now so difficult to get out of.

Wonder if Andersson has ever been in such a difficult situation with such an uneven squad? Maybe even uncharted waters for Andersson. But not uncharted waters for VIK and the fans, unfortunately.

Interesting if VIK can get out of this big mental challenge. So that you can get a little more out of the squad in terms of skill after all.

Now all sports psychology in the whole world is needed to save VIK. Inter alia.
