Vietnamese Badminton Coach Insights

Badminton Vietnam enters the fray Southeast Asian Games On the morning of December 7, 32 Vietnamese players participated in the women’s team event. In this match, the Vietnamese women’s badminton team lost 1-3 to Malaysia. Only Nguyen Thuy Linh won 2-1 against Karupathevan Letshanaa (number 1 of the Malaysian women’s team, 42nd in the world).

Vu Thi Trang reacted several times to the referee’s decision.

The referee made 4 or 5 incorrect decisions.

Meanwhile, Vu Thi Trang, the pair Tran Thi Dieu Ly – Pham Thi Khanh and Bui Bich Phuong lost 1-2, 0-2 and 0-2 respectively. Vu Thi Trang’s defeat was undoubtedly the most regrettable. After losing the first set (14/21), Nguyen Tien Minh’s wife saved the set point and won the second set in spectacular fashion (22/20). In the third set, Vu Thi Trang lost 14/21 and was beaten 1-2 by Ling Ching Wong (number 2 of the Malaysian women’s team, 44th in the world). It should be noted that, during this match, the referee repeatedly made decisions unfavorable to the Vietnamese player.

After the match, Ngo Trung Dung, coach of the Vietnamese badminton team, said: “Thuy Linh played well in the first match, and as you could see, Vu Thi Trang also fought hard in the second match. His defeat is very regrettable. Indeed, the referee made several errors of judgment, at least four or five situations which cost Trang points. »

Nguyen Tien Minh’s wife fought back in the dramatic second match, but ultimately lost 1-2.

Previously, Nguyen Thuy Linh also complained that the referee was biased towards the opponent, during the opening match, won 2-1 against Karupathevan Letshanaa.

“Today, the Vietnamese athletes played quite well, despite the injury of one of them. Phuong Thuy was scheduled to play the third women’s singles match, but she was injured during the previous training session and was therefore unable to play today. This is one of the team’s biggest handicaps. Even though we did not win against Malaysia and did not create any surprises, the Vietnamese athletes gave their best,” added coach Trung Dung.
