The Vietnamese badminton contingent is gearing up for the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in thailand,fielding a strong squad of eight athletes. Vietnamese Badminton Team Sets Sights on Medals at 33rd Southeast Asian Games

At the heart of Vietnam’s medal aspirations is their star player, Nguyen Thuy Linh.

Fresh off a stellar 2025 season that saw her climb to a career-high world ranking of 17th and reach three BWF world Tour finals, Thuy linh is widely expected to be a serious contender for a medal in the women’s singles. her current form suggests she’s capable of going deep into the tournament.

This marks Thuy linh’s sixth consecutive appearance at the Southeast Asian Games, a testament to her enduring presence in the sport. She has previously competed in the 2015 (28th edition), 2017 (29th edition), 2019 (30th edition), 2021 (31st edition), and 2023 (32nd edition) Games.

After three straight SEA Games (30, 31, and 32) where a women’s singles medal eluded her, the anticipation is high that Thuy Linh will break through and shine in Thailand. Her previous best at the Games was a bronze medal with the women’s team at the 31st edition.

On the men’s side, Nguyen Hai Dang carries the team’s hopes. The talented player from Ho Chi minh City has competed in the 30th and 32nd SEA Games but is looking to make a notable impact this time around.

The badminton competitions at the 33rd southeast Asian Games are scheduled to take place from December 7th to 14th. The tournament will feature a full slate of seven events: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles, men’s team, and women’s team.

The Vietnamese badminton team will be competing in four of these disciplines: men’s singles, women’s singles, mixed doubles, and the women’s team event.
