Vémola was detained on Tuesday morning when he was heading from his villa in Měchenice for dental surgery due to inflammation in his jaw. However, he did not make it to the doctor for an emergency procedure – in Zbraslav, the police from the Rapid Deployment Unit detained a well-known fighter.
The police immediately took the obviously startled Vémol back to “Vémoland” for a house search. A day later, the District Court for Prague 7 imposed a bond on the wrestler. He also sent two other accused to it.
According to findings Idnes.cz police officers from the National Anti-Drug Headquarters worked intensively for more than two years. “They were supposed to help transport twenty kilograms of cocaine to the Czech Republic from Great Britain. One person has already been convicted for this act in the past, but the investigation continued,” a source told the newspaper.
The findings correspond to the previous words of Vémol’s lawyer Vlastimil Rampula. “The client is accused of participating in a meeting that should have taken place five years ago, moreover, abroad, and the relevant perpetrator has already been convicted for this meeting,” Rampula said on Wednesday. He stated that he did not understand why Vémola was associated with the case. According to him, the reasons are not stated in the resolution on the initiation of criminal prosecution.
Vémola was charged with particularly serious organized drug activity on an international scale, a qualification corresponding to the most severe paragraph, according to which he faces 10 to 18 years in prison.
On Friday, he himself commented on the whole case via Instagram. “I thank everyone for the words of support that have been coming to me. I really appreciate it. I do not understand at all why I was accused in a five-year-old case that I know nothing about and what’s more, it has already been resolved,” Vémola said.
According to him, he believes that the situation will be clarified soon and he will return home to his children and wife Lela as soon as possible. “I’m trying to manage everything, although at the time of my detention I was on my way to surgery with inflammation in my jaw and the pain continues.
