The Trieste Basketball leaves defeated from the Itelyum Arena of Varese, where theOpenjobmetis won 84-69 at the end of an intense and high-paced match. In a warm and engaging arena, coach González’s red and whites try to stay in the game especially in the first half, but in the second half they pay for the greater continuity and physical impact of the hosts, who progressively take control of the match.

First quarter. Trieste starts with Ross, Brown, Brooks, Ramsey and Uthoff. Varese immediately breaks the deadlock with Iroegbu from the midrange after an offensive rebound, then Moore runs into the open field and makes it 4-0. Iroegbu again, first on the line (1/2) and then with a layup, scores the initial 6-0. Ross responds with a parable for the first Trieste basket. Ramsey tries a one-on-two in transition and, with the help of the scoreboard, scores two points. Fragmented phase, with several Varese turnovers well read by the Trieste defence. Uthoff attacks the close-out and serves Ross for the support of -2. Iroegbu raises the alley-oop for Nkamhoua who dunks, then makes another 1/2 to free throws after Candussi’s foul. Trieste struggled to find offensive continuity, often forced to find individual solutions. Candussi finds two points from underneath, but Librizzi on the other side punishes from the corner with a triple. Candussi scores again on an assist from Moretti, who shortly afterwards scores 1/2 on the line. Varese does not close the last action: in the 10th minute it is 13-11.
Second quarter. Trieste starts again with Ruzzier, Brown, Moretti, Toscano-Anderson e Candussi. Moretti opens the period with a midrange jumper. Varese moves the ball well on the perimeter and hits twice from the arc with Moore and Stewart. Brooks finds Toscano-Anderson for easy support, then Ruzzier scores the triple to make it -1. Brown, in side step, signs the pass from the arc. Moore makes 1/2 on free throws, Renfro beats Brooks off the dribble and goes to the rim. Brown is hot and hits a three. Alviti’s offensive foul on Ross, who in the following action capitalizes on the offensive rebound with a triple from the tip. Stewart responds from the arc, Uthoff from the midrange. Stewart hits another three, Ross responds with a quick shot from midrange. Assui launches Alviti in transition for the triple, but Ross goes to the line twice and makes it 4/4. Iroegbu finds Nkamhoua with a no-look under the basket, Ramsey penetrates and supports the rim. Varese doesn’t find the final basket: Trieste is ahead at half-time 32-37.
Third quarter. Trieste returns to the field with the starting quintet. Moore opens with a winning penetration, then Iroegbu attacks the rim and finds two more points. Brooks steals the ball and throws Ramsey for support. Moore continues to have an impact: offensive rebound and two points, then assist for Nkamhoua who crushes the new Varese lead. Nkamhoua scores again after a turnover by Trieste. Iroegbu catches Moore for the triple from the +6 corner. Uthoff responds from the arc following a pass from Ramsey. Iroegbu takes space and scores the triple, Stewart scores with a foul from underneath. Iroegbu again for Nkamhoua, who hits from the arc for +12. Moretti responds with a triple from the corner, Stewart responds again from three. Moretti scores another triple in rhythm, but Moore closes the quarter with a side step triple at the siren: 60-48.
Last quarter. Trieste starts again with Ruzzier, Moretti, Brown, Brooks e Toscano-Anderson. Ruzzier immediately assists Toscano-Anderson who finds the basket with support, but Librizzi responds with a triple from the corner. Ruzzier attacks the rim, Moore does the same in transition. Moretti is precise from the foul line (2/2). Brooks grabs the defensive rebound and throws Brown for the two-handed dunk. Iroegbu fakes the pass and serves Nkamhoua for support. Brown penetrates and scores, then unloads for Toscano-Anderson who scores the triple to make it -6. Iroegbu scores on the run after being fouled. Interference by Brooks on Librizzi’s shot, basket validated. Ross attacks the rim and scores, but Iroegbu responds with a heavy triple followed by Nkamhoua who scores with a foul. Interference by Nkamhoua on Ramsey’s shot, valid basket. Iroegbu serves Librizzi for a triple from the corner, then Iroegbu scores again from far away. After the timeout, Trieste tries to run: Uthoff penetrates and Brown dunks again. Uthoff beats Alviti off the dribble and goes to score, but Iroegbu raises the alley-oop for Nkamhoua’s final dunk.
