Previously, Bundesliga players were not allowed to compete in other top continental leagues under threat of suspension. Today things are different. Since those involved – unlike in football, for example – are not exclusively contracted to Union Lüdinghausen and Co., they usually decide for themselves whether they want to compete in Denmark, France, Holland, Switzerland or Germany. This is a problem for 08 team manager Michael Schnaase because points are at stake in half of Europe on the last weekend before Christmas – especially this Saturday. Which is why Union has to make do without several regulars when meeting with first division returnees TSV Trittau (5 p.m.).
