Unexpected Freedom: A Moment of Hope

Kasper Dolberg hopes to be able to play at least sixty minutes for Ajax during De Klassieker this Sunday. The Dane was in the starting line-up for the Amsterdam team for the first time against FK Qarabag (2-4 win) on Wednesday evening after a lingering abdominal injury and he feels himself getting fitter.

Dolberg scored the equalizer against Qarabag. Afterwards he tells his story ESPN. “This feels very good. We needed this,” said the Dane. “What a way to do it. It wasn’t always good or attractive, but it was a real team effort. We showed that we are a team today (Wednesday, ed.).”

For Ajax it was the third victory in a row after victories over Fortuna Sittard and FC Groningen. “I think we are growing a lot,” says Dolberg. “We help each other, want the best for each other and you can see that, I think. We look like a team, even today when it was difficult.”

Dolberg was on the field in Azerbaijan for more than an hour, as after 65 minutes he was replaced by Don-Angelo Konadu. Can the Dane play at least sixty minutes against Feyenoord next Sunday? “I hope so,” answers the striker. “It’s hard to say. When I went out today, I felt that my body is not used to so many minutes. But it’s all good.”
