The unexpected breakup between Carlos Alcaraz and Juan Carlos Ferrero has shaken the world tennis scene. Both expressed themselves through social networks, but the true cause of this separation is unknown.
He spoke about it this Thursday in The Stringer Toni Nadal, who also revealed that during his time as coach of his nephew Rafa “he did not charge” for his services.
The trainer believes that “the problem is not tennis because the results have been impeccable”so “it will be a contractual or personal issue, because Carlos is no longer Carlitos…”.
To address the issue, Toni Nadal drew on his experience and assured that he has never received anything as his nephew’s coach, but with one condition: “He who pays rules. Since I have never received anything as Rafa’s coach, I could tell him what I wanted.“.
In response to Manu Carreño’s statement that it was cheap for Rafa Nadal, Toni added with a laugh: “That’s why I was there so long. We are half Catalan. Rafael said ‘for what my uncle earns, let him continue.’
Toni insisted that this circumstance allowed him to demand without filters and without fear of the consequences, because he believes that “Tennis players need someone to tell them the things that others don’t dare to tell them.”
Even so, he confessed his admiration for the work of Ferrero, whom he believed “acted correctly,” although “No matter how much of a coach you are, with adults it is no longer time to impose… It’s the same as being a father.”
