Welterweight fighter, Islam Makhachev, revealed his reasons for refusing the offer to fight at UFC 324.

JUARA.NET – The new UFC welterweight champion, Islam Makhachev, admitted that he had rejected the offer to compete in January 2026 because he was considered too tight.

As is known, Islam Makhachev has taken the welterweight belt from the hands of Jack Della Maddalena.

The fighter from Dagestan won by unanimous decision at UFC 322 on November 15.

After controlling two belts (lightweight and welterweight), Islam has yet to have a fight scheduled.

The latest news, Makhachev admitted that he had received an offer for his first fight as a belt holder at UFC 324.

However, he rejected the offer because he considered it too tight from the previous fight.

“I was offered a fight in January,” said Islam, quoted by Juara.net from MMA Junkie.

“January, in my opinion, was an impossible date because I had already been training for three months, and they contacted me in December.”

“They said, ‘You’re going to fight in January.’ I said it was too late.”
