Tunç Zana Row: Minister’s Remarks Spark Outcry

News Center -Turkish Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç said, “We all have to act responsibly, especially for the peace, security and future of our country, before resorting to these provocations. Necessary judicial and administrative investigations are being carried out regarding the events. In this context, tape analysis and similar investigations are being carried out regarding the events that occurred. Authorized institutions are working on this issue.”

The first 8 articles of the 2026 Central Government Budget Law Proposal were accepted at the GNAT General Assembly.

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, while answering the questions of the MPs at the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, where he was present for the 2026 budget negotiations, spoke about the abusive insults of Bursaspor fans towards Leyla Zana.

Tunç noted the following regarding the abusive chants towards Leyla Zana:

“Sports is brotherhood, peace and love. It is a universal value that we need to further strengthen our solidarity. It should never be the cause of discrimination or become a tool of marginalization.

We are going through a sensitive process. We all want the terrorism-free Türkiye process to be successful. We wish that there is no attitude or behavior that would harm this process. At this point, it will be in the interest of our country and nation if everyone acts responsibly. We should not make generalizations when expressing our reaction to such events.

Otherwise, this would be a situation that would harm the process. We all have to act responsibly, especially for the peace, security and future of our country, without resorting to these provocations. Necessary judicial and administrative investigations are being carried out regarding the incidents. In this context, tape analysis and similar investigations are being carried out regarding the events that occurred. “Authorized organizations are working on this issue.”
