Francesa said Tuesday on his podcast that the dispute between the shortstop Francisco Lindor and outfielder Brandon, recently traded to Texas, was triggered by political reasons. Francesa did not reveal which player supported Trump and which did not.
“As I understand it, the Nimmo-Lindor affair was political and had to do with Trump,” Francesa said. “Some liked Trump and others didn’t.”

Nimmo was traded to Rangers on Nov. 23 after waiving the no-trade clause in your eight-year, $162 million contract earlier that month.
The transfer of Nimmo has been just one of the many developments in a turbulent offseason for the Mets, who have also seen the departure of two other players much loved by the fans: the first baseman Pete Alonso and closer Edwin Díaz.
All three players had been key pieces on the Mets’ last two playoff teams in 2022 and 2024, and had played together as the team’s core since 2020.
