Tragedy in German football. Sebastian Hertnera 34-year-old player, died last Sunday after falling 70 meters from a chairlift. The terrible accident took place when the defender and captain of ETSV Hamburg, from the fifth division, was on vacation in the Savin Kuk ski resort, north of Montenegro.
According to the newspaper Bild, the chair on which Hertner was riding detached from the cable and collided with another that was traveling on the same line. The footballer fell into the void and lost his life, while his 30-year-old wife was seriously injured when she was trapped and suffered a fractured femur and head trauma. Rescued by emergency teams, she was taken to a hospital.

The ETSV Hamburg has communicated the sad news through its social networks. “It is with great sadness that we have to announce today that our captain Sebastian Hertner had a fatal accident while on vacation. We are stunned and infinitely saddened. Our condolences to his family and loved ones. Rest in peace Sebastian,” reads the message.
After the fatal event, the ski resort has been temporarily closed and the authorities are investigating the incident in which three tourists were affected.
