Reed told the AA reporter that he was very happy to score 41 points in the TOFAŞ match and that he had never experienced such a performance before in his professional career.
Stating that the support of the fans motivates them more in the matches, Reed said, “We are playing tough matches in the league. The support of our fans is very important to us. We reflect the power they give to the field as a team. This provides a better motivation for us to get to the play-offs.” he said.
Reminding that they are one of the new teams in the league, Reed continued his words as follows:
“Although our team is new to the league this year, we are adapting to the league. I contributed to this with my team in the first months. I have a close friendship with Berk Demir, with whom I played in TOFAŞ last year. I have been playing in the league for more than 2 years and there are many players I know. We are all trying to adapt the team to the league and win matches. I think everyone in the team gets along very well with each other, everyone can communicate easily with each other.”
Stating that his reason for becoming a scorer is because he fought to the end on the field, Reed stated that he has been following professional basketball player Derrick Rose since his youth.
“I think it is the best league in Europe”
Emphasizing that there is high-level competition in basketball in Türkiye, Reed said, “I think Türkiye is the best league in Europe. It is a very competitive league with the two big teams of the European League and its system with 7 foreign players. I can say that the most competitive league I have played in is the Turkish league.” he said.
Stating that he likens the playing style of national player Alperen Şengün, who plays for Houston Rockets in the American Basketball League (NBA), to Nikola Jokic, Reed said, “I follow Alperen Şengün, one of the Turkish players playing in the NBA. We have faced him before in our league. His playing style is like Nikola Jokic. I compare his passes and rebounds to Jokic. I follow him well.” he said.
Giving advice to young basketball players to work hard, the burgundy-blue player said, “I started playing basketball at a lower level. That’s why I felt the need to compete more. I was always in a struggle. My message to them is to always work hard and continue growing while playing basketball.” he said.
Stating that he did not set individual goals for himself for the season, Reed emphasized that they wanted to be successful as a team and make it to the play-offs at the end of the season.
“I played my career match”
Stating that the match he played against TOFAŞ was the most unforgettable match for him, Reed said, “The most difficult match of the season for us so far was the match we played against Yukatel Merkezefendi Belediyesi Basket. The opponent hit difficult shots there. The match I had the most fun was the last match against TOFAŞ. I played my career match, it was the match I had the most fun in.” made his assessment.
Noting that what challenges him is his longing for family, Reed said, “The hardest thing for me in this journey is missing my family. Because I am miles away from my country. It is very difficult for me to see them during the season. I think this was the biggest challenge in my journey.” he said.
