Tether wants to buy Juventus, but Exor reiterated that it does not intend to sell shares of the club. This is the official note: «The Board of Directors unanimously rejected the proposal unsolicited submitted by Tether for the acquisition of all the shares of Juventus Football Club SpA held by Exor. Exor reiterates what has already been stated several times previously, namely that has no intention of selling any stake in Juventus to third partiesincluding, but not limited to, the Salvadoran company Tether. Juventus is a historic and successful club, of which Exor and the Agnelli family have been stable and proud shareholders for over a century, who continue to be fully committed to the Club, supporting the new management team in implementing a clear strategy aimed at achieving important results both on and off the pitch.”

What’s behind Tether

Paolo Ardoino, CEO of the cryptocurrency giant, forty years old, of Ligurian origin and a citizen of the world, is gaining points among the Juventus fans, disappointed by these years without great successes. Tether was also founded and launched by Giancarlo Devasini, a doctor-surgeon, the fourth richest man in Italy according to Forbes. It was born more than 10 years ago, in 2014 and operates mainly on the stablecoin market, i.e. cryptocurrencies whose value is anchored to a classic currency and are therefore less subject to market fluctuations.

To give a practical example, Tether receives authentic dollars or euros and in exchange provides USDT, which is the most important and used stable cryptocurrency in the world at the moment. In 11 years the company’s growth has been constant, so much so that in 2024 it reached have a turnover of over 13 billion dollars with a market capitalization exceeding 140 billion. It has grown a lot during the pandemic years.

The company is headquartered in El Salvador and already has 11.5% of the Juventus club in hand, company shares have allowed Tether to have a place on the Juventus board of directors in the person of Francesco Garino. Tether’s climb, after the announcement advertised on social media, does not seem to be stopping. The fans are waiting for the situation to evolve.
