With the last two training sessions of the year missing, the Teruel Badminton Club closes a year full of competitions and courses. The last two months of the year have been full of competitions with up to six national tournaments and the start of the Provincial School Games Championship.
On November 15, the members of the Teruel club participated in the TTR Binéfar, with Darío Marín achieving runner-up in the U-13 men’s singles and third place in the U-15 men’s doubles. And Ángela Lafuente third place in the under-17 women’s doubles.
On the 22nd of that same month, Ángela Lafuente managed to win third place in the under-17 women’s doubles at the TTR Huesca. On November 29 they went to El Provencio (Cuenca) to play the XIV Provenfray Badminton Tournament.
From December 5 to 7, Darío Marín participated in the Spanish U-13 Championship that took place in Cartagena (Murcia). Managing to overcome the group stage without losing a match, falling in the round of 32 in the men’s singles (ranked among the top 30 in Spain) and in the round of 16 in the men’s doubles (ranked among the 13 best couples in the tournament).
On December 13 at the TTR Alfajarín Miguel Ortiz won the under-15 men’s singles championship, while Darío Marín and Álvaro Abril were in third and fourth position in that category. Andrea Delgado was third in the under-13 women’s singles and, together with Vega Mollón, fourth in the under-13 women’s doubles. Ángela Lafuente won the runner-up position in the U-15 women’s singles, the same position as Darío Marín in the U-15 men’s doubles.
On December 14, the first day of the Provincial Badminton Championship of the Aragon School Age Sports Games was held in Andorra. Where almost 100 participants gathered from 10:00 in the morning until 18:00 in the afternoon to play more than 200 games. The participating clubs/entities are: Club Bádminton Teruel, Club Bádminton Utrillas, Comarca del Jiloca, Comarca Cuencas Mineras and Polideportivo Andorra.
On December 20 they closed with the TTR Huesca in which Ángela Lafuente won the title in the under-15 women’s singles and the runner-up in the under-19 mixed doubles. Lola Gómez and Andrea Delgado won the title in the under-15 women’s doubles. Darío Marín was third in the under-15 men’s doubles and Ángel Sanz and Samuel Rubio were fourth in the absolute men’s doubles.
During this year, the Teruel Badminton Club has participated in the four days of the Provincial Badminton Championship of the Aragon School Age Games, achieving seventeen provincial titles, fourteen runners-up and seven third places. They also played in the National Club League in their Second National phase and achieved ninth place, which will be played in the Las Viñas de Teruel pavilion on the last day.
Its players participated in the regional training sessions and preparation for the Spanish School Age Championship. They won three titles in the Aragon Championships, four second places and one third. They competed in fifteen national tournaments in which ten first places, twelve second places and sixteen third places were achieved. Three dissemination and introduction courses to badminton were also carried out. Specifically, they were carried out at the IES Francés de Aranda for students of the 2nd Higher Technician in Teaching and Socio-Sports Animation, at the CEIP Concepción Gimeno Gil de Alcañiz and the course for people over 55 years of age that they developed in September.
In January the competitions will resume with the celebration on the 3rd of the Teruel City Council Christmas Tournament in the Las Viñas pavilion, on the 10th-11th with the Alfajarín Senior Master and on the 25th with the second day of the Provincial Badminton Championship.
