Tennis Player Retirement: World No. 43 to Exit Next Season

S. Cirstea (Romania), who is ranked 43rd in the world in women’s tennis, updated her SNS on the 6th and announced that she will retire from playing at the end of next season.

Cirstea, 35, has won three tour championships in singles and six in doubles. He has reached the top eight twice in the Grand Slam tournament.

Cirstea, who has been active this season, achieved her third tour victory at Tennis in the Land (USA/Cleveland, Hard, WTA250) in August.

He also participated in the Kinoshita Group Japan Open Tennis Championships 2025 (Japan/Osaka, Hard, WTA250) held in October and was in the top four.

Cirstea updated his Instagram on the 6th and announced that he will retire from active duty next season.

“I love tennis.”

“I love discipline, routine and hard work. Competition and adrenaline fuel my soul. But like everything in life, it comes to an end.”

“Next year will be my 20th year on the tour as a professional tennis player. I never thought I would continue competing this long, but these past few years have been the happiest times on the court and it has sustained me. However, I have decided that 2026 will be my last year on the tour.”

“When you love something deeply, it’s not easy to say goodbye. But right now, it’s not a goodbye, it’s a let’s meet again.”

“I still have a lot of things I want to develop, goals and ambitions, and I hope to achieve some of them next year and finish this amazing career on the best note and on my terms.”
